Real Hair, Good Hair and Everything in Between

Look at Bey with her real hair! Ain't she cute? Its a little thin from years of pulling and tugging but she ain't no "bald-headed scallywag, ain't go no hair in the back, gelled up, weaved up, yo' hair is messed up" kinda chick. I like!

My girl Tyra is the one who sparked my interest and made me wanna write this post. Via twitter she announced "Guess What! I'm rockin' my REAL hair on my talk show September 8th. No fake hair at all! Will be the hair coming out of my scalp! 4 all 2 C!" and then she went on to say "no ponytails, no ballet bun head. hair will be out and free!" This makes me wanna request off work so I can see it for myself! I know it will be pictured all over the 'net though so its okay. I am really excited to see this, I must admit. The only time I remember seeing Ty without weave was when she had those braids to the back with no hangtime. I think she was doing a show about homelessness and she pretended to be homeless for a day.

I wish I could have my own personal stylist to apply, and straighten my lace front on a daily basis. I have been doing a lot of experimenting with my hair lately. Long weave, short cuts, bobs, micros. I'm never happy with the outcome for too long. Well I love my micros because they are uber low maintenance but as far as the look, it could be better. I love my short hair, the day I get it done. But then the back wont lay down, and within the week its growing out of it's style. I hate that. Not to mention the fact that I need a relaxer pretty much every other week because of the constant newgrowth. That's not good.
You know something funny? The other day I was working and this girl asked me if I have "good hair"? I was like, "What do you mean? I have micros?" She says, "Do you have naturally curly hair? Your edges lay down and it looks like your hair would be curly." I say, "Um, no." Mind you I had just gotten these braids so I didn't even have any new growth yet. Why did she think that? Funny how I kinda took it as a complement though. Hell at least my edges were looking good that day.
I always wanted "good hair." Good, long hair. My hair doesn't grow much past my shoulders and I haven't even let it get that long in years. I died my hair a really light blonde when I was 19 and that ruined my hair so I had to cut it really short to get rid of the damaged part, and it hasn't gotten back that long since. I have no patience when it comes to my hair. Once its gets to a certain point, I'm always chopping something off.
And now-a-days girls are shaving their heads, a lot. Solange, Ri-Ri, Cassie, and even La-La did the one sider thing. I liked it on La-La, she just shaved a little bit above her ear, not too extreme. Not many know that Raven did this first, months ago. So you know these hoes are all walking around St. Louis trying to rock the one sider, looking a hot mess. I don't know if its called the one sider, but I think that's a good name for it. Some of the girls actually look cute like that, but it's only like 5%. That's a look you gotta maintain, you can't have a one sider with new growth. Ew....I just threw up in my mouth a little just thinking about it. Lmao.

  1. I can finally comment on this! You know that I LOVE hair--let me rephrase that, I love natural hair! I have been consumed w/ all things hair for over a year now so this is a topic and I talk about for hours. Let me first say, I hate the term "good hair", ALL hair is good if it is treated properly. YOU have good hair! Don't believe the hype that your hair has to be a "certain way" or length to be "good"!! Also, I wanted to say that Kesh (UK designer) shaved the sides of her hair like a year and a half ago so they are all 2000 and late! LOL!
