No-No-NOTORIOUS

(May 21, 1972 – March 9, 1997)

"And if ya don't know, now ya know.....NIGGA.........."
How time flies. Big was killed 13 years ago. Wow. I still find it unbelievable that both the Biggie and the Tupac murders are still mysteries. I feel like if Tim McGraw and Garth Brooks were beefin' and they both were killed within a year we'd know who did it within 10 business days of the killings. I hate to throw the race card out there, but come on. They looked into the Jon Benet Ramsey case harder than they did either of these.

You know how people say Biggie made the big man sexy? That couldnt be further from the truth. Even if I saw Biggie at the club on my drunkest most golddiggery night, he would not get it. Diddy in the 90's? Maybe. But Biggie, no way. Same goes for you too Lil' Wayne. Sorry.

Now you know I gotta give my commentary on the movie "Notorious." You know I LOVE movies based on artists. I watched this everyday for like 2 weeks straight at one point. LOL

I have always wanted to see the actors and the real-life characters next to each other so I did some net-surfin' and these are my results.

Both these nigga's ugly as that thang. But the actor looks a smidge better than the real thing, believe it or not. He did do a really good job playing him though. It was really believable. Especially with those cotton balls or whatever in his bottom lip.

Although Diddy is not a bad looking man, he ain’t no Derek Luke. Derek can get it! Lisp and all. It took me a while to notice his lil’ speech impediment, but its okay. We can forgive that. He totally won me over when he danced like Diddy (well Puffy) in the movie. When he had that silk shirt on and he was twirling all around, I had to do a double-take! He nailed it. But I knew he was too sexy to be Diddy.

Next we have Naturi vs. Lil’ Kim. Poor Kimmy was portrayed as a groupie Biggie lovin’ whore in this movie. Most people say it’s the truth but I think everybody has skeletons in their closet yet Kim’s were the only one’s thrown out there. Biggie was made out to be a sweetheart when it came to the Tupac situation but he was a lil’ mean to Kim. Idk how that whole situation went down but when it cut to the scene of Naturi riding fake Biggie like a stallion, it threw me ALL the way off! She’s come a long way since 3LW!

I think Antonique Smith did pretty good as Faith. Her performance wasn’t great or terrible. She was just there I guess. The resemblance was a definite plus. The best scene by far was when she beat up Biggie’s jumpoff in the hotel room! Whew! Loved it! I hated when her and Big did that beat box thing though. Turn off.

I almost forgot, the worst portrayal of them all!! Anybody who knows me knows I absolutely hate this dude as Tupac!!! OMG!!!! HATE! Nothing personal against him or his performance but he looks nothing like Tupac. Sounds nothing like Tupac. Reminds me of nothing that says Tupac. I could go on, on, and on. Thatisall.

And Shug. Who cares. I found his pic, so there ya go. But it is funny that he said “Hellll No!” when asked if he would say if he knew who killed Pac. “I ain’t no snitch!” Oh and wait. “If you don’t want the executive producer all in the videos. Dancing. COME TO DEATH ROW!” Classic.

I just wanted to take a minute out to dedicate this blog to the one and only Notorious B.I.G. No, I wasn’t really his biggest fan, but this is another senseless murder that is still unsolved and I think that’s really sad. I wanted to put my silly spin on this situation and speak on a lighter note in regards to this tragedy. If you don’t like it, kick rocks.

Being an 80's Baby

As much as I appreciate the time I was born, I think I would've really enjoyed being an 80's teen or in my early 20's.  I hate to admit how much I love the EIGHTIES! The big hair, the music, even the fashion.

I mean, it was okay to let your hair be wild and let your clothes hang loose.  And don't get me started on the TV shows and movies.  The Molly Ringwald movies were at their prime, and action movies as we know them today were getting started.  Eddie Murphy was running around in colored leather suits and MJ had a nice light mocha latte' complection.

People weren't as high as they were in the '60's and '70's so I would've missed out on the coke and promiscuity that plagued the past generation.  Blacks were STARTING to be looked at more as people than "coloreds" eventhough rascism was still prominent.  It was slowly but surely starting to become politically incorrect.

All the Musical Icons of the 60's and 70's were leaving Disco and Soul and starting to have a more pop, rock, electronica feel.  Diana Ross, Chaka Khan, The Temptations, and especially Tina Turner.  Hip hop was growing to new heights.  R&B was changing to the likes of New Edition, Guy, LeVert, Anita Baker, Tony, Toni, Tone, Babyface and Luther. Black folks were doing their thang!

I may be mistakened but I think the 80's is when people officially started to worry about their health.  STD's, lung cancer, AIDS were becoming more known about.  People started to learn that their choices actually had consequences when it came to their health.  They had to actually think about it before they went to the back of Studio 54 to raw-dawg a few people and snort a line.

Technology was on a rise.  Household computers, and CD players were available for the people who had money.  The first cell phones were starting to show up eventhough they were the size of a shoebox.

I wonder how much gas was....the change in income and prices due to inflation really interests me for some reason.  The fact that a $30,000 salary back in the day was really doin' the damn thang and now a days you can't afford to pay rent and a car note off that salary.

People talk a lot of crap about '80's fashion without realizing how much it is impacting today. I mean seriously, you really think you were the first one to put on leggings with an oversized top, a boyfriend blazer, some bleached jeans, or a hair accesory with a huge bow? Please, we are more 80's than anything right now.  We may not be as brightly colored, or asymetrical, but we are wearing the same stuff.  Not to mention the emphasis on the shoulder that is breaking through right now, thanks to Ri-Ri.  Everybody can't do a shoulder pad, a one-shoulder dress, or a top with an embellished shoulder.  I am wise enough to know that I dont need to put any more emphasis on my upper body since my boobs already attract enough attention.

That Madonna lace look is back with a vengence now.  Lace down the side, toulle under our skirts and dresses.  All 80's stuff!! People are even rocking one short lace glove like they used to back then.  The MJ Thriller Jacket is pretty popular too! Not to mention, if I see one more person in an embellished Military Jacket inspired by 1980's MJ, I may shoot myself. Every trend does not work for everyone!

And how many people have one of these leather jackets from F21???--->

OMG and 2009 was the year of the floral dress!!! Jesus, every time I turned around I saw somebody in a black dress with colorful florals. Tube, with the corset top and tulle under the bottom. God help us all!

A lot of my favorite movies were made in the eighties, Breakfast Club, Coming to America, The Legend of Billie Jean, Beverly Hills Cop, Ferris Bueller's Day off, E.T, Beetlejuics....the list goes on and on.  Not to mention the horror film game really started in the 80's. Freddy, Jason, etc......

And lets not forget the makeup and hair! Those are two things that are not trending right now! I love me some big hair, but I don't see myself ever teasing a bang or applying purple blush! LOL, although I do endulge in a red lip from time to time. But I think the red lip was more prevalent in the '90's than the 80's.

While looking at '80s stuff, I found this pic of the first FOXY black barbie to have an afro circa 1980! She's cute! I even like her sweater. If I was a kid back then, I would've had her and her name would've been Cleopatra! Look at her patting her ‘fro! So cute! She looks like she has a little Soul Glo’ in her hair to moisturize it ever so lightly! LOL

To make a long story short, I love the 80’s and I wish I was older at the time so I could experience more of it firsthand! But then again, I like my age now and if I was in my twenties in the 80’s I would be in my 40’s now. No thanks! LOL

How Time Flies

Wow, I haven't blogged since September.  That's a shame.  I really like expressing myself here and I don't really know why I stopped.  Im gonna try to change that in the coming weeks.

So much in my life has changed since September.  I'm single (and ready to mingle, for the record), I'm not working, I applied to graduate school, I got a new car, I've gained like 10 lbs (which is gonna be gone soon), and I have decided on a total career change.

I just wanted to make my first 2010 blog entry, Ill be back when I have more creative thoughts.......

You Look Fabulyse! (6)

Yes, I am just as suprised as you are! We are wearing tights yet another fall! I thought tights were only gonna last about a year or two.  I thought this way back in 04/05.  And look at us now!! I remember when I wore a short purple dress with black opaque tights to the Pretty Nasty party in 2006 or 2007.  Everyone asked, "You wearing those tights with the feet in? OMG???" LOL.  Back then people really only wore footless leggings, the opaque tight hadn't become the craze yet.

The thing that separates fall 2009 and the past years, is the huge variety in the patterns and textures.  Before we would do opaque or not opaque, maybe a small pattern or a fishnet, nothing too drastic.  This year tights can actually be the key item in your look.  Trendy patterns, liquid, sequinned, torn, denim, or studded are just a few ways to rock a legging this fall.

I just bought some FAB floral tights from Forever that I cant wait to wear! Not to mention those houndstooth tights pictured above! Those need to be on my legs immediately! Lol!

Leggings and tights can very easily be a disaster if not worn properly.  You have to know your body and know what flatters you.  Tights are another one of those trends that does not work for everyone.  Also you have to know what to pair your tights with.  Some girls, depending on the body type and their style level, can rock a legging with just a shirt.  Others cannot.  And just because you are skinny doesn't mean you can do whatever you want.

Even a crackhead saw the business opportunity in leggings.  Lindsay Lohan started her very own legging line 6126. http://thefabulyselife.blogspot.com/2009/08/lindsey-lohan-and-frankie-get-clothing.html She even invented the "ankle glove." Which is a leg warmer on crack.  Some of her leggings are pretty cute, but they aren't any different from any other leggings in the world.  I'm done hating.

Happy FALL FASHIONS!! I love getting dressed in the fall! Its just cool enough to wear the cutest outfits without having to cover them up with a coat!

Liar, Cheater, Deceiver, Heartbreaker

Question......do all men really cheat? All of them? Every single one? Until recently I didn't think I had ever been cheated on. I mean really cheated on, not just "chillin' with someone" or getting "too flirty." I mean straight inserting your piece into someone else's pie.

Maybe I was trying to live in a fairy tale world or something. It's a really humbling experience. It's like you think "that'll never happen to me" or my man is "better than those other niggas." Please, everybody, men and women, have the capability of being classified as "not shit." All they need is the situation.

But seriously though, if you are committed to someone that "situation" shouldn't come up right? Don't you owe it to your partner to not even be associated with those types of environments? Or is it just if you're married? I've heard a lot of people say it's not that deep if you aren't married. Those were mostly old school people saying that type of thing anyway. Plus if you and your mate have that agreement then that's fine. But if not then you better be making the right choices.

Then after the cheating, what do you do? How do you stop thinking about it? If you forgive the person then you owe it to them to try and move forward right? But you really shouldn't owe them shit. They are the ones who made the mistake.

Being the person who cheated and the person who got cheated on couldn't be more on opposite ends of the spectrum, when it comes to emotions anyway. The person who did it can be secure immediately after. They know the situation and have nothing to worry about. The victim is the one who has to constantly worry. Are they still cheating? Do I know the person? Was it only one person? Did they protect themselves properly? The list of questions can only go on.

Not to mention the humiliation. Do you look stupid for accepting it and forgiving that person? Do you look like a weakling? Or do you look like a forgiving person with a big heart, who understands that mistakes happen? Idk. I guess it just depends on the circumstances.

2009=Nakedness?!?!

Ok forreal......is 2009 the year for nakedness? First Cassie and Rihanna and now Dorian from College Hill and Willie from Day 26.  Dorian's pics were nothing that I desire to see ever again, but I may be going back to look over Willie's again.  Lmao. Im only joking.

But seriously, what is going on? Im sure celebs have been taking these pictures forever, but why are so many leaking these days?  Is it just that much easier to hack into people's computers/phones these days? Everyone's twitter, phones, email etc. is getting hacked.  That's gotta be scary for celebs.  But they should know the risk involved considering the fact that they have seen it all happen before.  I don't think I would even take pics like that if I was a celeb.  Willie released a statement first apologizing to his fans, then explaining that he has to be away from home for extended periods of time and he and his wife share intimate moments the best way they know how.  I can understand that, but still.

The worst of the naked photos, in my opinion, is the Cassie ones.  I mean really.  At least Ri-Ri only showed a little boob and booty, and you couldn't even see her face.  But Cassie? She had to out do Ms. Rihanna.  She went full spread eagle, no shame.  You can come back from a little boob and booty, but spread eagle? Idk.

New Music out this Week

Soooooo......how did we really feel about the Whitney GMA performance? I love Whitney for being the legend that she is.  This wasn't her best performance, but she has been off the scene for 8 years.  If anyone stops doing their job for 8 years, then their first day back may be a little shaky.  I think we as fans forget that celebs are still human.  They are not perfect. And the main ones hating ain't never stepped on a stage in front of a crowd at all.  So kick rocks.

I haven't heard her album and I'm not really sure if I wanna purchase it yet.  I mean I'll probably purchase it just because its Whitney, but we'll see.  I need to listen to the little snippets on iTunes and that'll make my final decision.  I wasn't feeling her first single too much, it seemed like a headliner for a Lifetime movie soundtrack.  As much as I need a little Lifetime chick flick in my life, I can do without the music. Lmao.

Is Whitney gonna be the same after all these years? No Bobby? And will the drug use have a permanent effect on her performance? I dont know..... I think she'll be fine.  Her performance showed that she still has it, but she needs to drink some tea or suck on a lemon or something.  She definately had a lot of energy.  Not to mention her footwork.  It reminded me of Tina at the end of "What's Love Got to do With it?" when they showed the real Tina performing in that white leather jumpsuit.

"Lady Love" by LeToya Luckett also came out this past week.  I got it off iTunes.  Its pretty good so far.  I haven't listened to it too much, but the first listen wasnt bad.  Normally I can tell if I'm going to be able to handle an album by the first listen.  Why did I not realize how old that song "Torn" truly is?  I never listened to her first album and I was looking at the playlist like "Where is Torn?" That song is like 3 years old Lmao.  LeToya has been really cute lately.  I'm proud of her for moving past the DC mess and building a name for herself.  Now we just gotta find LaTavia and Farrah and see what they are up too.  Actually you can leave Farrah where she is.  Lol.  Did y'all forget about Farrah? Yeah she was only on the scene for a few months.
I had to put in this throwback photo of DC.  These were the days.  At the Bey concert when she took it back and sang "Bills, Bills, Bills", "Say My Name" etc. was one of the best parts of the show.  Ahhh, I would love to see a "REAL" DC reunion.  The original four, no Michelle, no Farrah.  Michelle is kewl, I actually like her, but let's be real.  She really didn't add much to the group. She would've been a better fit in a group like, let's say Mary, Mary.  Or maybe her and Yolanda Adams and CeCe Winans could've formed a group.  Michelle never struck me as a comfortable fit in DC. She seemed to be playing a role but it seemed to come natural to Bey and Kelly.  Speaking of Kelly, why did I just realize her real name was Kelandria? Now that's a name.  I have heard rumors of a DC3 reunion in 2010 once Bey finished her I Am tour.  We'll see.  Supposedly they owe Columbia another album.  They should do like the end of Dreamgirls and bring back all the original members.  And you see how on "The Temptations" the old members formed their own group and went out and sang the old Temp songs.  Maybe Latavia and Farrah should do that.  They could perform at the Ambassador or the Loft.  I'd go. Lmao.

But back to LeToya, I like her album. Its pretty good. She's cute, no drama (so far), and I feel like she is finally being looked at as her own person not a ex member of DC.

And last but not least, Trey Songz's album just came out too.  He is so sexy.  For this reason, I will buy the album. Lol.  I havent bought it yet but I will.  Im so lazy, lately I've been just getting everything off iTunes instead of taking the trip to Target.  Trey has changed his sound a little bit to me.  He is way more trendy now.  "LOL :)"? Really? The thing that is crazy is that I actually like the song.  Hate to admit it, but I do.  "Succesful"? Its cool, not my fav.  I think my favorite Trey song of all time is "Can't Help but Wait".  When he breaks it down on that one part..."you should be rockin the latest in purses, bracelets, and watches, you're worth much more than an occasional I love you, Im thinking of you...." OMG! My shit!!! And damn right, I should be rocking the latest! Get it right. :)
I have always loved Trey Songz, even more after he cut off those god-awful braids.  He was the last dude that had braids that would even consider looking at twice. And thats a huge compliment.  Trust me.
I must admit that I kinda lost a little respect for him after reading his Honey Magazine interview though.  He talked about having a girl in every city and catching an STD in his younger years.  I know this is how most celebs get down, but I don't wanna hear about it from their mouth.  Reading about it on YBF is one thing, but him saying it is another.  I wanna keep my image of him being a nice, respectful guy.  Not one that lands in a city and calls his jumpoff for the night.  Oh well.

He just seems so much more urban, more mainstream. He used to have a more neo-soul look, sound. Not a groupie one. Maybe it was the braids. Lmao.

Well this was a busy week for the R&B industry, lets see how the sales do for these albums.  Next is Jay-Z (that I won't be buying) and Mariah. (Probably won't get that one either.)

Signing off.......MUAH

Lindsey Lohan and Frankie Get Clothing Lines

Okay! Im done! Maybe I should just start shooting up now! These crackhead hoes (no offense) are officially starting to piss me off with the clothing lines. First Nicole Richie, now these crackies. I can understand Lindsey, kinda, but FRANKIE?? Oh my lord. This woman walks the streets of Atlanta looking like "who dun it and what for?"

Lindsey's line is actually a collection of leggings called 6126 (for Marilyn Monroe's birthday)which honestly isn't bad but its nothing special either. I can see these items at Forever, Target, or Express for much cheaper. I mean they are leggings for goddsakes, how creative can you get? Let me stop hating. And she came up with something called a ankle glove which ain't nothing but a legwarmer on crack (no pun intended) lmao.

And Ms. Frankie, yes Keyshia Cole's mama, is supposed to start a line with all her trademark sayings. "Holla" being the main one. You have got to be effing kidding me. Damn crackhead. If I was a young kid without good influences around me, I may actually think crack is the thing to do. All these celebs, do it and bounce back with a vengence. Frankie is far from a celeb, but still. How the hell does Keyshia feel about all these shenanigans? I would be so embarrassed. Of her and Nefe, who by the way is preggo again! Didn't she learn last time? She wasn't nothing but a dirt devil away from an abortion the last time which wasn't nothing but like a year or two ago.
Im not quite sure how true this is about Frankie, according to YBF this information came straight from her mouth. For some reason Frankie doesn't strike me as a reliable source. Even when she is talking about herself.

Black Simpsons

So, I saw this on YBF and thought it was pretty interesting. Funny how most of my blog posts are inspired from something I saw on YBF or twitter......Anywho.......

I'm not sure how I feel about this ad. Some are saying it's kind of racist or stereotypical of them to make a black version of the Simpsons. I just don't understand why color has to identify everything. I know it has always been this way and probably always will but that doesn't make it any better.

Yeah the Simpsons is going to Angola now. So what? Would they not have enjoyed the show as much if the characters where still drawn as their original white selves? I'm black and live in a very black area, I know its not quite Angola but I am open-minded and mature enough to enjoy shows that star whites, blacks, puerto-ricans or haitians. Especially cartoons. I mean come on, my favorite cartoon character is yellow!

If anything I don't like the fact that in the white picture they have lamps on end tables next to the couch. Why the black ones gotta have speakers and a beer can? What the hell? Why? Maybe its just a coincidence, but for some weird reason, I doubt it!

You Look Fabulyse! (5)

Now, y'all know I had to put together a look from Forever 21! All these looks I was doing cost thousands of dollars once you put together the entire ensemble. You can get a shoe, bag, and entire outfit including accessories for under $100 at Forever! Now normally this would be a bad thing, but this company has somehow found a way to put together items for cheap as hell that don't look horrible. Unlike other companies like Rave and even sometimes Charlotte Rousse, Forever can really make a girl look good for next to nothing. Hell we have denim and dresses starting at $12.50. I should be getting paid for writing this post.
